The Crown may be a fictionalised rendition of the events surrounding the lives of the British royals, but its captivating nature knows no bounds.

Viewers are so intrigued by the humanising series that every year we are left jaws agape when imagery from the new season is released, and we can compare the actors to their real-life counterparts.

Netflix has finally revealed an early look into the show’s fifth and sixth seasons, and once again, the photographic stills are ridiculously uncanny.

The similarities are so striking.

Our very own Australian and charming actor, Elizabeth Debicki from Baz Luhrmann’s adaption of The Great Gatsby, is set to play Princess Diana.

The first photo of Elizabeth, 30, in character, is quite striking, and her similarities to the late icon are very evident.

Our home-grown talent is captured lying on a couch staring out into the distance with her hand perched under her chin.

Her hair is styled in Diana’s famous short crop, and Elizabeth’s strong, angular, and fair features perfectly complement the role.

Fans have also been treated to Dominic West in character as Prince Charles, who looks dashing with his hair parted to the side and in what appears to be prosthetics to get Charles’ look.

As for Queen Elizabeth, at the end of July, The Crown revealed the first photo of Imelda Staunton, who is best known for playing Professor Umbridge in Harry Potter in character as the royal matriarch.

The new seasons are set to focus on the early 1990s during Charles and Diana’s tumultuous marriage breakdown.

Like many eras, Prince Harry and Prince William’s mother was under intense media interest, and with much of the public in her favour, their adoration for the philanthropist was deep.

Last season, the strained couple was played by Emma Corrin as Diana and Josh O’Connor as Charles.

The series focused on their early years together as two young people navigating a marriage that wasn’t what either expected.

The streaming service is yet to announce the fifth season’s release date, but it’s expected to land on Netflix sometime in 2022.
