Only a year ago the Duke of Cambridge stepped down as a search and rescue helicopter pilot with the Royal Air Force but the prince might be ready to climb back into cockpit.
Britain’s Sunday Times reports that William is being lured back into the skies with a “day job” at the East Anglian Air Ambulance service in Norfolk, near the Sandringham country home he shares with his wife, Catherine and their nearly-one-year-old son, Prince George.
William, 31, is said to be seriously considering the role as he is not ready to be grounded indefinitely to take on full-time royal engagements.
“He absolutely loves flying and it gives him the opportunity to fly,” said ABC America’s royal contributor, Victoria Murphy.
During the royal tour of New Zealand, the Duke is understood to have told a Christchurch dignitary he was “longing” to go flying again, and wanted to keep up his flying hours.
The palace has not confirmed the reports surrounding Prince William’s future but did say in a statement that “The Duke is considering a number of options for public service.”
