Olivia Newton-John has given fans an update on her heartbreaking stage four cancer diagnosis, in a new interview alongside her daughter, Chloe Lattanzi.

The mother-daughter duo appeared on The Project on Thursday night to promote Chloe’s appearance on the new season of Dancing With The Stars.

When asked by host Lisa Wilkinson how her health is progressing, ONJ replied: “Fanastic!”

The 71-year-old says while her cancer hasn’t completely gone away, she is feeling healthy and able to live a normal life.

“I’m doing really well. And thank you for all of your love and support, I really appreciate it,” she said.

Lisa asked if ONJ’s stage four cancer was “done now”, and the Grease star said she “believed so”.

“I believe your belief system is part of the healing,” ONJ said, “and all I know is that my last MRI things are shrinking, going away or staying the same and I’m living well with it and feeling great.”

The star pumped her fists in the air as she declared she was feeling “fantastic”.

Olivia has been battling several bouts of cancer for years, having dealt with the disease privately since 2013, but in 2017 she announced publicly that her breast cancer had returned and metastasised to her lower back.

Since then, she has kept fans updated about her condition and always tried to maintain a positive attitude.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight last year, ONJ said despite a challenging few months, she was feeling healthy.

“I just want everyone to know, I’m here, I’m doing great. I’m doing really well and I’m really healthy,” she said at the time.

“It was a challenging year because I broke my sacrum and I had to learn to walk again and everything. But I am strong and I am back and I’m feeling good and loving every minute.”

And when asked about how she was feeling about her diagnosis, she replied: “Every day is a gift, we don’t really know how long our life is. I’m very grateful, and I intend to be here for a long time. I have much to do still.”

She also opened up about her cancer diagnosis during a sit-down interview with 60 Minutes in August 2019.

Speaking to reporter Liz Hayes, Olivia revealed how “lucky” that she has been through it three times and was “still here”.

“I’m living with it,” she said. “Every day is a gift now, particularly now.”

Earlier this year, rumours circulated that she was close to death, with reports that she closed down with a video to her social media accounts.

And while the diagnosis is incurable, she believes death is a “long way away”.

“When you’re given a cancer diagnosis or a scary illness diagnosis, you are suddenly given a possibility of a time limit,” she said.
