Erin Molan has confessed she feels ‘triggered’ by a recent critique from an older lady, who claimed the outfit she was wearing on air was “too revealing”.
Speaking on 2DAY FM’s breakfast show Hughsey, Ed & Erin, the Sky News presenter and radio host relayed the email she received.
She received an email from an older lady unimpressed with her clothing.
(Image: Instagram)“I was a bit triggered by an email that I received from a lady, a 76-year-old female, who sent me the following: ‘I am a 76-year-old female who regularly watches the Sky News channel’,” she began.
“‘I was disappointed last night to see you were, again, falling out of your top. We don’t watch your show to look at your cleavage and it puts me off completely, so I have to switch off. The show is about serious matters and is not a sex show. Please consider this when dressing in the future’,” the email concluded.
Erin was triggered by the body shaming comments.
(Image: Instagram)Erin was visibly surprised by the body shaming comments, despite the laughter that followed. She revealed that she had recently become more vulnerable to such negative comments about her physique, which often come from women.
“I’m quite confused in terms of how I’m feeling,” she laughed. “Because in one way, I understand that in TV you don’t want to be distracting and you dress to the occasion.”
“But there’s part of me – recently and only in the last few months – I’m actually sick to death of people having an opinion of what I should wear [and] what I should look like. I am a woman, I have breasts. They were not falling out of my top. You are allowed to see an outline of breasts.
“It just annoys me. Normally I would say ‘whatever’ but for some reason I feel quite triggered.”
She continued to point out the purpose in which breasts are naturally used for as opposed what they have become sexualised for: “I should not have to hid my boobs, they fed my child.”
After a difficult pregnancy which saw Erin hospitalised twice, her daughter Eliza was born in June 2018. Erin shares her daughter with former fiancée Sean Ogilvy. The pair suddenly split in 2021 while Eliza was 3-years-old.
The TV personality confessed to Who Magazine that Eliza’s “welfare, her happiness, her health is the most important thing in the world to me.”
However, in May 2022 Erin revealed she met someone very special. Although she remains tight-lipped on her new boyfriend’s identity, Erin admitted “he’s really lovely.”
