But the depth of their connection has been proved once again through a letter penned by the nine-year-old.

During lockdown, the duo braved homeschooling together, and as most parents know, this process can be difficult at some times and rewarding at others.

Now, Johnas is back at school, and on one of his first days back, he was instructed by his teacher to honour Ada with an “Amazing Award.”

The actor took to her Instagram Story to share the wonderful words he penned to pay tribute to her hard work.

He wrote, “Dear mum. Thanks for helping me through a tough time (homeschooling) I couldn’t do home learning without your help. Johnas.”

Of course, Ada was deeply touched by this token of gratitude, and she captioned her post, “I received an award today for homeschooling, thanks, my beautiful boy. Love u so much and enjoyed every part of it.”

Even though the pair may feel nostalgic for that time together, Ada wasn’t afraid to share the hard reality of home learning during lockdown.

Back when lockdown was still in full swing, the mum-of-one took to Instagram to post a heartbreaking picture of Johnas looking like he was about to cry while she gave him a tender kiss on the cheek.

Ada captioned the stressful snap, “Ready for another day of homeschooling 🏡❤️.”

Co-star and close family friend Lynne McGranger had commented on the post, “Good luck to you all 😂🙏🥰💋.”

Home learning wasn’t their only struggle in lockdown – they also dealt with missing their family after so much time apart.

At one point, the Home and Away star shared an Instagram story about how much they’ve been missing their loved ones.

“Got to hangout with my gorgeous goddaughter today.”

She had captured Johnas trying to work on his home-schooling, and he’s cutely wearing a soccer jersey with Sofia 21 written on the back, which is a reference to his cousin and godsister, Sofia.

Thankfully, the family was able to reunite when Sydney’s lockdown rules eased, and the 44-year-old met up with Sofia at a local park; and she captioned their adorable pictures together, “Got to hangout with my gorgeous goddaughter today… she’s super cuddly and adorable 🥰 ❤️.”
