Impressing your boss can be hard enough, but imagine being put to the test before the Queen herself.

Well, that’s exactly what Duchess Catherine has been subject to for the best part of the last ten years, but it seems as we round out the decade, she’s hit her ultimate stride.

In a new article for Vanity Fair, respected royal writer Kate Nicholl has revealed the Queen is a big fan of the Duchess of Cambridge, and her affection has been particularly apparent of late.

According to Nicholl’s source, the Queen is taken with Kate’s “unflappable” nature.

“Her mantra is very like the Queen’s keep calm and carry on approach in life, and she has the added benefit of making the Royal Family seem almost normal and in touch,” the source explained.

The Queen is reportedly impressed with how Duchess Catherine is upholding herself as a royal.

The insight comes after a testing summer for the royals, who saw a number of less-than-positive headlines about them grace news stands.

Indeed Prince Andrew has been at the centre of reports around the Jeffery Epstein case, and the constant (and often uncalled for) scrutiny of Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry has been rife.

That’s why it would be completely understandable for Her Majesty to enjoy seeing Kate absolutely thrive in her role as the future Queen consort of England.

Kate’s growth in confidence this year is undeniable, and her recent whirlwind tour of Pakistan alongside husband Prince William was case in point.

The pair were in their element as they visited the South Asian country – marking the first royal visit there for more than a decade.

Kate’s array of beautiful, traditional outfits set the perfect backdrop for multiple successful engagements in the overseas location – and you couldn’t deny some of the beautiful mirroring moments Kate shared with her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

Kate’s biographer Claudia Joseph also explained to Nicholl that there was a “new confidence” about Kate.

“I think Kate seems much happier than a year ago. She has three lovely children, has been honored by the Queen for her hard work and is really well liked not just here but around the world.”

And there is definitely something to be said for her down-to-earth attitude, despite being one of the most photographed (and revered!) women on the planet.

In fact, just last week it was revealed Catherine had managed to sneak into a Chelsea pub where she attended a school parents mixer.

And mere weeks before that Kate was spotted in a local Sainsbury’s where she and her children were shopping for Halloween goodies.

While in Pakistan, Kate also delivered her first TV news interview as a royal.

Speaking with the authority and ease that the Queen, and many royals before her have nailed, the Duchess eloquently explained her experience visiting an SOS children’s village.

“William and I really wanted to come and see an SOS children’s village like this,” Kate said.

“There’s so many vulnerable women here but they’ve really used their positivity and the support that the village here provides them to support and protect the next generation, the children in their care and give them the best possible start to their future lives.”

With this in mind, there’s no denying Kate has really come into her own as a royal family member, and we’ve certainly seen her flourish in 2019.

Now, as the year comes to an end, we can only imagine the glorious insights and spectacles we have to look forward to as Kate continues her streak of regal (and rather stylish!) slam dunks.

Here’s to plenty more royal moments to come!
