Leah and Ash’s determination to be the most outspoken cast members on The Block may have backfired, with the pair now living in fear they’ll be booted off the show by none other than Scott Cam himself!

Sources say the TV host didn’t take kindly to the couple attacking his own builders Andrew Simmons and Aidan O’Shannessy (aka Simmo and Aidan) from Nine in Six, in scenes shown this week, in which Leah accused the pair of failing to keep “things safe” and of being “not up to scratch”.

And Leah, 32, confesses to Woman’s Day that it was “a really rock bottom moment” for her and husband Ash, 38.

“We were really concerned how the rest of our journey would be on The Block,” she admits.

“We wanted to stay safe and deliver top-quality rooms. We were also devastated for our tradies, who worked relentlessly hard all week from literally the ground up! We were painting at 2am with water pouring in from every light hole, switch, ceiling cracks. Combine this with no sleep and a bad judging night – to say we were broken would be an understatement.”

The reality star denies the showdown led to further tension on set, though.

“After we both shared our views, Ash cracked open a bottle of whisky after tools down and all was forgotten. We all moved on quickly and had a great working relationship from that moment on,” Leah claims.

And the mum-of-three tells Woman’s Day she isn’t worried about backlash from the

Block boss either.

“Not at all, Scotty is an extremely understanding and supportive guy,” she says.

Fan backlash

Viewers haven’t been so forgiving.

Some online commenters have labelled the couple “loudmouthed bullies”.

But rather than blame bad editing, like a lot of reality stars do, Leah says the way she and Ash are being portrayed on screen is fair.

“We are strong personalities. We’re not afraid to say what we’re feeling and I think that’s what’s being shown to the audience. Whether that be good or bad, you will get it all from us!”

“We didn’t go into this experience thinking we would put on a ‘front’ or hide who we are. The Block is high stress and extremely competitive, so of course there will be moments we show our frustrations.”

And as for her online critics, Leah says they aren’t even on her radar. “Between work, the kids and enjoying the show, there’s little time to worry about social media,” she says.

Watch The Block Sundays at 7pm and Monday-Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9.
