If you tuned in to Married At First Sight‘s second set of final vows last night you may have been absolutely reeling over the shock split between Georgia and Liam.

If you’ve been keeping up to date with all the gossip outside the show, however, you probably saw it coming.

Whichever group you sit in, neither was prepared for just how brutal and nasty their vows would turn.

The couple was already off to a rocky start after the tense last dinner party whereby Liam confessed Georgia wouldn’t be accepted by his family.

When it came to the vows Liam confessed his feelings for his bride but Georgia began her vows by describing her husband as “manipulative and insecure”.

“At the dinner party, without warning, you turned on me, you humiliated me, and you degraded me in front of everyone,” Georgia said.

“It was obvious how devastated I was, and yet you chose to abandon me that night when I needed you the most. I’ve never felt so small, inadequate, and confused.”

Despite this Georgia wanted to give the relationship a chance.

Instead, Liam delivered a final blow before storming out, saying: “I love you but hearing those vows, you don’t know me. You don’t know me at all.”

“I’ve never seen this side of you, and I think it’s a cop in the face that you say that I’ve done all this to you when this whole experiment, I have given you everything.”

Liam had his final say via Instagram as the show played out.

Georgia threw her ring and began to sob.

Taking to his social media alongside a picture of him walking away, he wrote: “I’m man enough to know when to admit my mistakes and how I treated you at the final dinner party was not fair to you and not how I wanted to behave as your husband. I believed that our connection was strong enough to get us through anything, even when one of us makes a mistake. I know I hurt you in that moment G, but I took our final vows as the whole experiment and not just one night.”

In another post, Liam remarked: “Making the decision to walk away from something special is never easy.

“However, when you feel like someone has not been their authentic self and then takes the opportunity to put you down for all of your faults without first ever wanting to work through it with you, sometimes you need to recognise that love isn’t always enough and some words cut too deep. 💔.”

Georgia on the other hand, chose a much more poetic approach, posting the quote: “If you love something, let it go. If it returns, it’s yours; if it doesn’t, it wasn’t. If you love someone, set them free. If they come back they’re yours; if they don’t they never were.” #MAFS.”
