Perth woman jailed for “33 separate acts of violence” against toddler

The woman was said to be under the influence of the drug oxycodone at the time of the abuse.

A 26-year-old Perth woman has been sentenced to three-and-a-half years in jail after being charged with 33 acts of violence against a 4-year-old girl.

Katherine Walker and her girlfriend were looking after the toddler while on a short holiday. Walker’s partner recorded the abuse on her phone while attempting to stop the battery which included, kicking, slapping and venturing to smother the young girl with a pillow.

Walker pled guilty to knowingly engaging in conduct that may result in physical, emotional and psychological harm to a child in her care and five counts of aggravated common assault.

It is reported that Walker was under the influence of the drug oxycodone (also known as hillbilly heroin) at the time of the abuse.

The prosecutor recounted the recorded incidents to the court, revealing that Walker told the child “I want to smother you until you die,” while holding a pillow over her face.

She was also heard to call the 4-year-old a “stupid ct, ABC news reports.**

This was just one of the graphic and horrifying incidents the court heard.

After being charged with the offences, Walker and her girlfriend agreed to a suicide pact by overdosing on drugs.

While Walker survived the incident her girlfriend died.

The court heard that Walker didn’t check on her partner’s condition after she awoke.

No charges are being pressed over the troubling incident.
