Man stabbed to death in Westfield food court

The horrific attack took place in front of terrified onlookers.

A fatal stabbing unfolded in front of a restaurant full of people in Hornsby Westfield last night.

A man and a female companion were the victims of the horrific attack that took place at 9.30pm.

The crime was alleged to have been over a love triangle. A witness told Nine News the attacker was yelling that the woman had cheated on him with the other man.

“The guy jumped over the counter and stabbed him. He got two in the neck and, like, three in the stomach, and he dropped. It was pretty messed up, the way he dropped,” said the witness.

The woman allegedly tried to escape to a nearby shop, but was stabbed in the chest and arm, and suffered a fractured sternum. She was taken to hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries, and is now stable.

The man was stabbed several times, but despite paramedics doing their best to keep him alive, he died at the scene.

Police arrested a 44-year-old man at the scene who was covered in blood, and was interviewed this morning.

A cluster of restaurants in the shopping centre have been taped off. The Kang Nam BBQ and Infuzions restaurants are being guarded by police.

Police are seeking witnesses and mobile footage of the attack to come forward.
