McCann told The Sun she is convinced her daughter is still alive and living close to the Algarve resort where she was abducted in May 2007.
“That’s where she last was and I don’t think she’s been taken a million miles from there,” McCann said. “I’ve always said Praia da Luz is the place where I feel closest to her.”
“It’s all only speculation, but we’ve learned that’s usually the case [that abducted children aren’t taken far from where they were last seen].”
McCann is currently campaigning to get people to register for Child Rescue Alerts, an initiative that sends messages to users when a child goes missing so members of the public can join the search immediately.
