Emily and Matthew before he tragically lost his life in January.

In a tragic turn of events, a 30-year-old man has collapsed and died with heatstroke, just two weeks before becoming a father for the first time.

Matthew Hall was dirt bike riding in the Beerburrum State Forrest on the Sunshine Coast when he started to feel unwell according to 7 News reports.

He was assisted by paramedics but his organs were already shutting down by the time a rescue helicopter got to him.

It’s a stark reminder that heat-related illnesses aren’t limited to the old or very young.

Tragically, his widow Emily Hall happens to be eight months pregnant. Matthew, who was a pilot, was due to become a dad to a little boy in just two weeks’ time.

Emily spoke to 7 News :

“I can’t fathom life without him but my strength is knowing he will live through his son,” she says.

“I will love him enough for the two of us and I will make sure I do Matt proud and be the best mum to him.”

Our thoughts go out to Emily and the rest of Matthew’s family and friends at this devastating time.
