An emotional Sam Wood has revealed his newborn daughter Harper was taken to hospital on Sunday night after falling ill.

The former Bachelor told his followers that his wife Snezana and stepdaughter Eve took Harper to the Royal Children’s Hospital at 10:30 pm and returned home at 5:45 am.

After announcing their hospital stay, Sam filmed Snez and Harper cuddling while catching up on rest in bed. He then turned the camera and put his hand on his heart.

He revealed his newborn caught an ear infection from her sisters Willow and Charlie, and now they’re “just waiting to get her blood tests back.”

Two days after Sam broke the news of Harper’s illness, the family returned to the hospital for additional care.

The former Bachelor posted a picture of Snez cradling their daughter on the hospital bed with a tube attached to her face.

“Back again. Oh you’re a little trooper Harper and Fkn super mum!!” he wrote.

It has been a trying time for the family after Harper arrived four weeks premature on May 4, and after she caught an infection during the birth, she was subsequently hospitalised for weeks.

Sam broke the news on Instagram by writing alongside a picture of Snez holding Harper, “30 minutes after this photo was taken. Snez became sick. Really sick and before we knew it Harper was off to the special care unit and Mum was into ICU.”

He continued on to gush over his wife’s strength when Harper was taken away for treatment, “Of course, in true Snez Mum fashion, her only thoughts were for her little baby, and it was breaking her heart that she couldn’t hold her.”

Sam commented highly on the staff at the hospital for their incredible work.

“After finding an infection that both Snez and Harper had picked up and some incredible care from the nurses and doctors, they were reunited yesterday and both doing well,” he wrote.
