Women are incredible beings.

Whether it’s those who are pioneers and leaders at the forefront of change, or those raising families and working tirelessly, there’s nothing women can’t do.

And, more often than not, they do so without boasting and without thanks.

It’s these kinds of women, and all those in between, that we celebrate on International Women’s Day, come March 8 every year.

While we’ve come a long way since the first IWD in 1911, there’s still a long way to go and we mustn’t forget that the day is about more than just celebrations.

One in three women have still experienced physical and/or sexual abuse, women make up just 23.8 per cent of parliaments across the world and despite the “myth”, there is still a gender pay gap in Australia.

Just one of many ways you can make a difference this IWD, is with a little retail therapy (you don’t have to tell us twice).

So, we’ve rounded up some of the best brands giving back this International Women’s Day and throughout the month of March.

Our pick is this timeless Unite small cross body bag, $299

(Mimco)

MIMCO

For the sixth year in a row Mimco will be donating 100 per cent (yep, ONE HUNDRED) of its profits on International Women’s Day to Our Watch, the national leader in prevention of violence against women and their children.

If that’s not reason to shop, we don’t know what is.

While you’re there pick up an item from their Her Impact Collection which sees 100 per cent of profits go to the Malala Fund for the entire month of March.

We’re OBSESSED with this Pearl power chunky ring, $99.

Ashley Graham is the new face of Quay in time for IWD.

(Quay)

QUAY

While cult sunglass brand Quay isn’t directly donating profits from sale on the day, they are donating $100,00USD (approx. $127,000AUD) directly to charity, Girls Inc. which is absolutely nothing to scoff at.

It’s a great reason to support their campaign and indulge in a new set of shades, of which you can shop here.

Warm your heart and your ears with these Heart Stud Earrings in Sterling Silver. $10 of every sale goes towards Dress For Success.

Dress For Success is a global not-for-profit organisation that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the developmental tools to help women thrive in both work and life.

So grab yourself a pair of the stunningly chic Michael Hill Sterling Silver Heart Stud Earrings for $AUD19 and $10 of the sale will go towards Dress For Success.
