Kylie Gillies — co-host of The Morning Show, television personality and mother-of-two — has taken to social media to share her recent skin cancer scare.

The 50-year-old shared an “ugly” image showing a potentially cancerous sun spot under her eye, before and after treatment.

“This is me rocking an Actinic Keratosis,” she captioned the Instagram upload. “On the left is what it originally looked like. Barely a spot.. so I ignored it for 18 months because I was frightened of what the treatment would be. Stupid.”

Kylie said that while the image on the right may appear worse, the spot was easily covered with makeup — in fact, the entire ordeal didn’t require a single day off work.

“I realise the pic on the right LOOKS scary, but that was 2 weeks into treatment,” she wrote. “And it was able to be completely covered by makeup. I had no days off work. Even on TV.”

She went on to urge her followers to get their skin checked — before it’s too late.

“I’m sharing these ugly pics so that you know you DON’T necessarily have to get these sunspots ‘burnt’ off,” the media personality penned. “My treatment was a cream; a kind of ‘chemo’ cream. My doctor @drnatashacook realised i needed the solution to be the least invasive possible.”

She added: “If ignored, these spots can turn cancerous so I beg you not to I did. And now, 5 weeks later? There’s not even a mark.”

The confronting image has already received close to 2,000 likes and has been met with a deluge of praise and support.

One commenter wrote, “My uncle died of a cancerous spot under his eye. Thanks for sharing the importance of this Kylie,” while another penned, “It’s not ugly, it’s reality, ugly is avoiding treatment!”

The post, which coincides with the start of the sunny-season in Australia, also seemed to come as a well-timed reminded to many of Kylie’s fans.

“Thanks Kylie. A reminder for me to book in a treatment at my skin specialist for my sunspots,” one instagram user wrote.

Alarmingly, another penned: “Omg I have something like that on my windpipe. Booking an appointment tmrw. Tx for sharing Kylie.”
