People are NOT impressed with the message on this condom

The offensive condoms were handed out to students on a university campus and if you missed one, you could buy ONE for almost $5!

When it comes to sex, both parties must always consent. The message is loud and clear. So when a condom recently made its way onto a university campus, wrapped in a plastic sleeve, emblazoned with the words “go further without consent” it caused a massive stir, and for all the wrong reasons.

These particular condoms were handed out at a university campus in the US, by a group advocating safe sex, which makes the message on the wrapper all the more confusing. In big, bold text the words “go further without consent” were written on the white wrapper alongside a seemingly random image of a cartoon doughnut.

A student who received one of the offending condoms posted about it on a Reddit forum.

Safe sex campaign on my campus handed these out,” wrote the student alongside a snap of the condom.

Taking one look at the condom, Reddit users were quick to voice their utter disbelief at the contraception’s message.

“Wow, that is pretty damn crappy,” wrote one user.

“All I saw was ‘go further without consent’. Wow, design fail,” said another.

Yet, on second glance, someone who speaks fluent “emjoi” was able to translate the true, intended meaning of the condom wrapper.

“It’s actually ‘do nut, go further without consent’,” explained the user who recongised the importance of the doughnut image before the text.

“Do Nut/Not,” wrote another.

Even after people had realised the intended meaning of the condom’s wrapper, was “Do not go further without consent,” they were still shocked.

“It took me a minute to actually get that the donut was supposed to be part of the sentence,” posted one.

“I thought the donut was some random decoration until I saw this,” said another user.

One Reddit user hit the nail on the head when they said: “There should be absolutely no room for ambiguity with a message like that.”

The controversial condoms are made by custom design company, Say It With A Condom. The condom can be purchased for a whopping $3.99USD ($4.98) each, however they are currently sold out.

The brand is yet to comment on the controversial condom that has caused a stir on the internet, but they say that their line of Consent Condoms “will start a conversation about how to ask for consent before engaging in any sexual activity.”

Also in the range of condoms with misleading messages is this one:

While the condom’s intended message is tackling an important issue, we think ambiguous or misleading message about sex are not on. And, considering the results from the University Sexual Assault report that found one in four students was sexually harassed in a university setting on at least one occasion in 2016, handing out unclear messages about sex and consent to students isn’t a very smart thing to do.

We’d prefer it if Consent Condoms sold their more obvious, condom wrappers (for those not fluent in emoji).
