Whether you’re team #Bonrad or team #Jelly (there’s only one right answer), there’s no denying the allure of the sweet summer escapist series, The Summer I Turned Pretty.

Based on the best-selling book trilogy from Jenny Han, the Prime Video drama follows Belly’s (Lola Tung) complex love triangle with brothers Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno).

With season two currently underway – its premiere more than doubled season one’s viewership within three days of launching – fans will be pleased to know that season three has officially been greenlit.

With that, you’re probably wanting to know what you can expect from season three and where to watch it in Australia. Scroll on for all the details.

What will happen in The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3?

Seeing as how season two is yet to even air its finale, we’ll avoid any spoilers (for now) but book readers will know exactly what to expect from season three, which takes place two years later and brings the series to a close as Belly makes a final choice between Conrad and Jeremiah.

When speaking to Gavin and Chris*, who play Jeremiah and Conrad respectively, before season three was even confirmed, they shared their thoughts on the slight time jump between seasons two and three.

“It would be cool to jump forward in time,” Chris told TV WEEK. “I think I speak for both of us but we’ve been playing in some ways younger versions of ourselves for two years now and then to jump ahead and deal with a character that’s closer to me would be awesome.”

“Basically, we would be the same age as almost when we started – just about, pretty close,” Gavin added, with Chris cheekily pointing out that it may be the case for Gavin but certainly not for himself.

“For season one – definitely for me,” Gavin laughed. “It would be really interesting to age it up a little bit and see what happens.”

What is the release date for The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3?

While season three was officially greenlit ahead of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, production will not begin until after labour negotiations with those unions have been resolved.

“It’s been hard not being able to work on the show because of the ongoing strikes, but we can’t wait to get going on Season 3 as soon as we’re able,” Jenny said on Instagram when announcing season three.

So, there has been no release date confirmed just yet but we do know the new season will consist of 10 episodes. Stay tuned for information as it comes.
