After last night’s single date, we could have sworn the start of a spark was beginning to burn between Alix McDermott and Matty Johnson on The Bachelor Australia 2017.

And so did Alex! But our main man MJ had different plans and sent the stunning body painter home.

Here, the 24-year-old speaks to Now To Love exclusively about her time on the show, how good Matty’s massages are and if she’s met anyone special since she left the dating show.

Matty picked Alix to go on a wake-boarding date and even gifted her with a massage and a rose.

Alix, 24, NSW

You guys just had an awesome single date, did it suck to be sent home so soon after?

I did feel like Matty and I had a connection, so I was taken by surprise.

At first I was shocked and confused about what maybe I’d done… was there a quality that maybe he wasn’t attracted to? I really wanted a reason more than anything and I didn’t get one.

Did you feel a connection with Matty?

It was early days to imagine a future with him but I would have loved a second date. I think that throughout our chat [after the single date] which wasn’t shown, we did have great banter. We did speak about a lot of things that were important to us. I thought maybe I could be in to get a chance of a second date.

We have to ask you, how good was that massage from Matty?

[Cracks up laughing] Look, the man gives a good massage I’m not going to lie. I didn’t know how to react to be honest! It was hilarious.

What was Matty like in person, did he live up to expectations?

Matty is a great guy, who has amazing morals. He’s a phenomenal specimen. I did really enjoy my time with him and getting to know him. I feel lucky I got that single date.

Bachelor fans are pretty annoyed about last night’s episode, which focused on outing Leah and her topless waitressing past. What’s your take on the situation?

What Leah does is Leah’s business! Leah and I never really spoke in the house. I was very out of that situation to be fair.

What did Matty think of your profession as a body painter (which sounds like the world’s coolest job, btw)

We spoke about it on the single date and he was very intrigued by it, he thought it was quite a quirky profession. It’s always fun to come across somebody who is a little bit different!

What was the atmosphere like in the house after Elora’s sleep over date with Matty?

I guess you can imagine what it would feel like to know your boyfriend possibly slept over with another girl. It’s not a nice feeling. There were a lot of girls who were very hurt by it.

“He’s a phenomenal specimen. I did really enjoy my time with him.”

Who do you think will win?

I’m going to put my money on Laura. They have a fantastic connection. Even watching it now it looks like they’re pretty perfect together.

What was the hardest thing about being on the show?

I definitely, definitely won’t miss the drama of the house. I remember just sitting there on the first night feeling ill that there was so much bitchiness to start off with. It threw me out of my comfort zone quite quickly.

But being around girls like Elise, Lisa, Liz and Laura, you felt like a sane person.

Jen is another big personality, is she the same when the cameras aren’t rolling?

What you see is what you get with Jen! We weren’t incredibly close in the house but I did always have time for a conversation with her.

Are you still single or have you met someone special?

I’m dabbling in the dating world!
