It’s been a heartbreaking week on Home And Away with the departure of Summer Bay’s temporary doctor Alex, played by Zoë Ventoura.

The gorgeous doctor arrived to fill in for Tori, Penny McNamee’s character, while she was on maternity leave from the Northern Districts Hospital. While in the role she stole not only our hearts but the heart of one particular character – Willow (Sarah Roberts).

The start of their romance may have been rocky, with Willow trying to understand her feelings for Alex, and in turn her sexuality, but eventually it blossomed into one of the show’s greatest loves.

With Tori returning, Alex’s maternity contract has come to an end, leading her to leave the Bay and Willow for her next role – and in turn, farewell Home And Away.

The couple shared one last night together before Willow woke alone with a heartbreaking goodbye note on her pillow. Sob!

With the episode airing Sarah took to Instagram to express her gratitude for Zoë and their on-screen love story.

“If you love someone, you say it, right then. Otherwise the moment just passes you by,” she wrote.

“Willow & Alex… the most beautiful love story I’ve had the privilege of telling on screen.”

The actress went on to thank producers and fans for bringing one of the show’s most prominent same-sex relationships to life. Most recently viewers saw Ty Anderson (Darius Williams) come out as gay while living with John and Marilyn before leaving the show in 2018.

“I knew how important this storyline would be to the LGBTQ community. I felt so lucky to be part of it. I hope it means more opportunities and more acceptance.

“I can’t help but tear up reading all the messages from our new found fans. We see you, and we are grateful for your support.”
