The first two artists to compete in Eurovision – Australia Decides 2020 have been revealed! Hosted on the Gold Coast and broadcast live and exclusively on SBS, Australia Decides will celebrate its second year.

In 2019 Australia voted for Kate Miller-Heidke and her haunting performance of ‘Zero Gravity’ to compete at the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv, where she placed ninth.

She was selected from a group of 10, though there were more than 700 submissions!

This year, SBS and Blink TV have announced that Aussie icon Vanessa Amorosi and powerhouse entertainer Casey Donovan will be competing.

The duo will be joined by eight other acts, all hoping to represent Australia at the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

Casey, who gained fame after winning Australian Idol in 2004, was asked to join after opening the show earlier this year.

“I’m so excited to be a part of Eurovision – Australia Decides after opening the show and seeing the amazing talent,” Casey says.

“When I was asked I thought, what an amazing thing to be a part of! It doesn’t matter what happens for me, Proud is such an incredible song written by the talented Justine Eltakchi and I’m proud to sing it.

“I can’t wait to share the stage with some of Australia’s most talented singers. And I mean Vanessa Amorosi… She’s my idol! I love her!”

Meanwhile, Vanessa has been in the Australian music industry for two decades. She released her fifth album today, revealing one of the songs is her submission for Australia Decides.

“I am so incredibly excited to be part of Eurovision – Australia Decides 2020. I am a proud Aussie and to have the opportunity to sing one of my songs on a huge international stage representing Australia would be unforgettable,” Vanessa says.

“I look forward to Australia hearing my song and working alongside friends and fellow musicians on this journey. It’s going to be very special. Listen to my new album ‘Back to Love’, released today, and see if you can guess which song it is…”

So far, fans on Twitter have been speculating it will be her new single ‘Gimme Love’ as it hits the Eurovision requirement of being three minutes or under. Time will tell!
