Calling all avid Disney fans! The Walt Disney Company has confirmed the release date and cost of it’s new streaming service for Australia and New Zealand.

Disney+ will be launching in the land down under one week after it goes live in the US, with an Australian and New Zealand release date set for November 19.

As promised by Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger, the price-point will sit below the cost of other services such as Netflix and Stan.

The streaming service will set Australians back $8.99AUD per month or $89.99 per year, and New Zealanders back $9.99NZD per month or $99.99 per year.

New movies such as Frozen 2 will air exclusively on Disney+

Disney+ will be home to movies and shows from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and more. There will be original new releases, including a live-action remake of Lady and The Tramp starring Justin Theroux and Tessa Thompson.

Per Variety, Disney’s theatrical releases are set to be withheld from other services. In the US alone, this will reportedly cost Disney $300 million in annual revenue it currently receives from Netflix for pay-TV rights to its content.

In Australia, Stan and Foxtel currently have expiring deals with Disney – though it’s yet to be confirmed how those deals will be impaced when Disney+ launches.

The Lady and The Tramp remake, starring Justin Theroux, will air exclusively on Disney+ when it launches.

You’ll be able to subscribe to Disney+ directly or via in-app purchases, on devices from Apple, Google, Microsoft, Sony and Roku.

Stay tuned for more updates ahead of the service launch in November!
