Mystery, Murder and Marriage: Inside Channel Ten’s new series, Riptide

TV Week audience watch out because a brand-new Australian drama, Riptide is hitting Channel Ten soon and it’s bound to tick all the marriage, mystery, and murder boxes.

Riptide follows the journey of Alison, played by Jo Joyner, who was a single mum before she married the older and wealthier Sean, played by Peter O’Brien who starred in Aussie soap, Neighbours.

Riptide is hitting screens in late June.

Newlywed Alison moves into a stunning beachside home with her teenage daughter Hannah, played by Asher Yasbincek who starred in Heartbreak High. In what should be a joyous time, is shrouded in tension as Sean’s adult son Ethan, played by Benny Turland, is against the marriage.

Alison and Sean remain determined to build a happy life for themselves. That is until tragedy happens…

During a morning surf, Sean vanishes without a trace leaving viewers to wonder if he was caught in a dangerous riptide or is there something deeper going on?

There are a bunch of familiar Aussie faces, in particular Neighbours stars including Logie-Award winner Peter O’Brien, Benny Turland and Ally Folwer.

Even Jason Herbison – known for his role creating and writing Neighbours – has created, written and produced Riptide alongside director Scott Major who also starred and directed the Aussie soap.

Riptide is written by Margaret Wilson, Anthony Ellis (Wentworth and McLeod’s Daughters) and Natalie Mandel (Neighbours), with intimacy coordinator Michala Banas (Wentworth).

Meanwhile, other stars include Ciaran Griffiths (Coronation Street), Yazeed Daher (The Heights), and Benjamin Samaddar.

Riptide will premiere on Wednesday, June 28 at 8:40pm on Channel Ten and 10Play.
