The Traitors Alvin Quah reveals the “devious” strategy cut short by Alex Nation’s betrayal

'Oh, I'm so devious!'

And just like that, The Traitors Australia has lost its very first Traitor, MasterChef Australia alum Alvin Quah after a ruthless banishing ceremony. In a twist that Alvin admits he never saw coming, fellow Traitor Alex Nation turned on him, being one of the vocal voices in the fold voting him out.

Now that he’s watching the show back with the rest of the country months after filming, Alvin says it all adds up.

“It all makes sense now because at the time, I didn’t know about the side conversations or whatnot. I was like, why did you write my name?,” Alvin tells TV WEEK.

“Now, watching it back, it all makes sense but in the best way. This game is so wicked — I love it!”

Alvin’s demise was a result of two factors: Survivor superstar AJ Antonio‘s masterful scheming, and Alex’s freak out when she heard that he mentioned her name as a theoretical Traitor.

“The nail in the coffin was when Alex had that meltdown at breakfast. It was like watching a car crash, and all I could think was, ‘stop talking, woman!’,” Alvin laughs.

According to Alvin, the Traitors had a deal that they’d give each other the heads up if they heard their names mentioned by the Faithfuls, which is why he told Alex about AJ dropping her name.

“I did not expect that that breakdown at breakfast,” he explains. “So that was a catalyst, and I knew AJ was going to be on to me. He is such a master schemer. It was a good run.”

While he was ousted from the show, Alvin had some big plans in the works and if he remained in the competition, he had his sights set on the twins, Luke and Josh Packham.

“If I could have invited someone into the conclave, it would have been Josh,” the MasterChef star admits.

“I wanted to split the twins. They had a good social game and I wanted at least one to be part of the Traitors. It would have just been enough to arouse suspicion on the other. Oh, look how devious I am. It’s brilliant!”

But that wasn’t the only twin-related devious behaviour he had in store! If Alvin remained in the competition, he had planned on killing one of the twins.

“It’s a strength in numbers thing,” Alvin shares. “There’s two of them and regardless of what they say, they’re always united. So if you get rid of one, you have a better chance.”

With all the twin telepathy rumours, who can blame him?
