Just like they’re used to fighting their way through the obstacles on the Australian Ninja Warrior course, power couple Eddie Burrill and Lisa Campbell weren’t going to let a little thing like a global pandemic stand in the way of their big day!

The Brisbane-based duo, who got engaged in 2017 after Eddie, 30, got down on one knee at the picturesque Hargraves Lookout during a trip away to the Blue Mountains, had planned to wed in 2020, however due to COVID-19 were forced to delay the nuptials until October last year.

Despite it keeping some of their immediate family away – only their parents could attend – they ensured their other family were there to cheer them on from the sidelines, just as they do on TV.

“We invited the whole Ninja crew!” the new bride, 29, tells Woman’s Day.

“Everyone from Ninja is like family – these people are such a loving and supportive community, there’s no way we could get married without them.”

Fellow stars such as Ben Polson and Fred Dorrington served as Eddie’s groomsman while notable Ninjas such as Olivia Vivian, Todd Smith, Michael Fisher, Angus Lambe, David Lack, Jade Haddy,

Jade Genet and Nat Linz were part of the 55-guest list at a ceremony at the gorgeous Preston Peaks Winery in Toowoomba.

“It was so magical. It was just one big Ninja reunion,” Lisa adds.

The country estate provided a picturesque setting for the traditional union, however the couple ensured that their love for the Nine reality show was peppered throughout.

Guests were encouraged to climb the trees, Lisa did a handstand in her gorgeous crystal-accented wedding dress – which she admits she got on sale on the discounted rack – for the customary bride and groom photo, and instead of the traditional bride and groom figurines standing tall on top of the wedding cake, the groom swung from a branch with a bouquet of flowers.

“We are so fortunate to be able to support each other in something like Ninja Warrior,” Lisa says of her love for the program.

“Doing something like this together is really special. But don’t get me wrong, it’s no secret that we are competitive with one another.

“But it’s always in good fun and we always support each other at the end of the day.”

The couple admit that while a baby Ninja may be a few years away, they’re looking forward to throwing themselves headfirst into more training – and a well-deserved honeymoon to Europe later this year.

Ninja Warrior airs on Sun 7pm, Mon & Tues 7.30pm, on Nine.
