Just when you thought it was time to let it goooooo, we’re finally getting the long-awaited sequel to Frozen.

The film broke records on its opening weekend in the US, raking in $127 million and $350 million globally in the past week. Now, it’s set to premiere in Australia.

It’s been six years since we first fell in love with the animated smash, and in that time the Disney hit has transformed into a global phenomenon.

After taking more than a billion dollars at the box office, Frozen also won two Academy Awards – for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song – before making its debut as a musical on Broadway in 2017.

While Frozen was all about Elsa (voiced by Idina Menzel) and her sister Anna (Kristen Bell) reconnecting, this time around, we’re set to see the pair collaborating to defeat the dark forces of the North.

Trailers hint that the siblings must work together to find answers in a mysterious enchanted forest.

“The past is not what it seems – you must find the truth,” wise troll Pabbie advises Elsa. “Go north across the enchanted land and into the unknown – but be careful.”

One of the biggest question marks from Frozen was why Elsa was born with special powers, but Anna wasn’t.

It appears we’ll finally get to the bottom of this in the sequel, with the directors saying the movie will cover off the origins of Elsa’s magic. We’re also set to learn what really happened to Anna and Elsa’s parents at sea.

All your favourite characters from the original Frozen are returning. They include Elsa and Anna, Kristoff the iceman (Jonathan Groff), snowman Olaf (Josh Gad) and Sven the reindeer.

But we’re also getting a couple of newbies set to join in the fun.

Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood revealed she’d be voicing Queen Iduna – Anna and Elsa’s mother. She’ll appear in flashbacks, singing a lullaby to her young girls about a distant, mystical river full of memory.

Plus, This Is Us favourite Sterling K Brown joins the cast as Lieutenant Mattias, the leader of a group of Arendelle soldiers trapped in the enchanted forest.
