The TV WEEK Logies have welcomed some seriously famous international guests over the years. From Hollywood legends including John Wayne and Roger Moore to music superstars such as Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran and One Direction, these are some of the biggest international stars to attend, perform at or present awards at the Logies.
So, in celebration of this year’s Logie Awards kicking off at 7pm on Sunday 16 August, let’s take a walk down memory lane at the moments we’ll never forget.
From Hollywood royalty (including John Wayne and Joan Rivers) presenting awards, to the impressive performances by world-famous artists, the star-studded ceremony never fails to wow.
It really isn’t the TV WEEK Logies until an A-list singer or band take to the stage to perform. Who could forget the screaming masses in 2012 when former British boyband One Direction sung their smash hit What Makes You Beautiful.
Or when Katy Perry lit up the stage with her dance anthem Firework in 2011.

Kelly Rowland

That 70s Show alum Wilmer Valderrama was touring Oz to spruik his show, NCIS, when he was invited to hit up the Logies at its first year on the Gold Coast in 2018.

The squeals when British boy band One Direction arrived on the red carpet in 2012 were deafening. Crowds cheered them on as they sang What Makes You Beautiful before the event kicked off.

Host Bert Newton infamously made a gaffe when he said “I like the boy” while on stage with American boxer Muhammad Ali. The sporting legend attended the TV WEEK Logies in 1979.

Yep that’s the Fonze! Happy Days actor Henry Winkler attended the TV WEEK Logies in 1976.

Actor John Travolta looked suave when he attended the TV WEEK Logies in 1990. That year Craig McLachlan picked up the Gold Logie gong for his work in Neighbours.

Superman flew in to present an award in 1995. He handed over a gong to the late Dieter Brummer who picked up the Silver Logie for his work in Home And Away.

There were plenty of Fireworks when international songstress Katy Perry performed at the 2011 TV WEEK Logies. She later hammed it up for some photos with Hamish Blake and Andy Lee.

Joan Rivers made a memorable appearance at the 2006 TV WEEK Logies. She took to the stage to present the Most Popular Light Entertainment Logie alongside Richard Wilkins.

Dallas came to the Logies! In 1985, Dallas stars Larry Hagman and Linda Gray walked the red carpet. They weren’t the only international guests that year – The Young And The Restless actress Melody Thomas Scott also attended.

The original sex bomb Tom Jones performed at the TV WEEK Logies in 1993. He did a song with John Farnham that had the audience up dancing.
