The Nine Network has confirmed The NRL Footy Show will not be returning in 2019.

The beloved sports program has been on the air for over 25 years, and has won many TV WEEK Logie Awards for its incredible sports coverage. The show is currently lead by Erin Molan, though it was hosted by former rugby league player and commentator Paul Vautin for 24 years.

“It’s been an incredible ride for The Footy Show. A quarter of a century of laughs, controversy and first-class footy analysis,” says Nine’s Director of Sport Tom Malone.

“I want to thank everyone who has contributed to this amazing era of live sports-entertainment television – from producers, editors, camera operators, the players, guests and of course the legendary hosts.

“Fatty holds the record for the longest serving host of any prime time Australian TV show – a tribute to both his understanding of the game, his authenticity, and not to mention his incredible comedic timing. In recent years, Erin has equally brought a new energy, perspective and showed her passion for the game.”

The Network confirms Erin will be joining the Wide World of Sports team.

Co-host Beau Ryan took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the cancellation with his followers.

“Just want to personally thank everyone and anyone that contributed to the Footy Show over the last 25 years,” he wrote in the caption.

“I grew up idolising Matty Johns, Sterlo, Chief and to work with Fatty was a dream come true. Erin and Big Marn are two of the nicest people I’ve ever met and I’m sure they will continue to have success. Also, a huge thanks to everyone who worked on the show on and off camera and the entire ch 9 network.

“But finally I want to thank the fans. The people I met along the way. The supporters, the punters, the fanatics, the men, the women and the kids that made my job so enjoyable. I loved every second of it and I’m forever grateful. Footy Show, thanks for the memories, and in the meantime if anyone needs me I’ll be halfway up the Centrelink queue….”

Erin shared the same photo on Instagram, writing in the caption that she had loved every second of the show.

“What an incredible privilege to be a part of for so many years… Have loved every second. Thank you so much to all the wonderful staff who worked behind the scenes – you are amazing. To the people I got to sit along side -Fat, @therealbeauryan and @therealbigmarn – plus @rwgirdler later on… you are all sensational and I thank you for the support both on and off camera. To the fans – you made the show. Thank you.”
