Well, it looks like our favourite Danish royals have had a plum start to the new year.

Princess Mary and her beloved husband Prince Fred attended the Danish New Year’s banquet.

The centuries-old tradition, which invites Danish dignitaries, was hosted by Queen Margrethe and held at Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen.

The mum-of-four was truly a vision, dressed in a silk gold dress, teamed with a rich plum cake.

Adorning her pinned back brunette locks, Mary wore one of her favourite crowning jewels the Ruby Parure Tiara diamond, which is ruby-encrusted.

Around her neck was her Knight of the Order of the Elephant collar.

The Australian-born royal’s Prince looked equally as charming in traditional military regalia.

Mary was a vision as she sparkled in her royal jewels.

The couple kicked off their first royal engagement ion January 1st, 2017.

Mary’s tiara was left to Prince Frederik by Queen Ingrid after she died in 2000, who then gifted the jewels to Mary.

The royals and their guests had a merry old time in the palace’s Great Hall.

The Danish Monarch shared the evening’s menu on their website, and it truly was fit for royalty.

The attendees feasted on pheasant consommé, meat and dumplings for entree, followed by a saddle of lamb, spinach flan and cheese pie and a kumquat cake called Kumquatkage served with meringue for dessert.

To wash down the delicious food, they drank Rosenborg wine, which has been served at the New Year’s Banquet since 1598, bottles of champagne Moët et Chandon, sparkling wine Cuvée M and bottles of 2010 Château de Cayx.

The palace took to Instagram to give well wishers a peak into the festivities, showing the table settings and bright floral arrangements.

Guests were then treated to live Danish music.

Talk about a smashing start to the new year!
