It’s the crossover that keeps on giving. Daniel Craig, who famously played James Bond, has had another brush with royalty for a very special occasion.

Craig was awarded The Order of St Michael and St George by Princess Anne.

The royal family acknowledged the accolade on their official social media platforms.

In a special detail, it’s “the same honour held by his character James Bond”.

The prestigious award was founded in 1818 and “recognises service in a foreign country, or in relation to foreign and Commonwealth affairs”.

Craig played James Bond for 15 years, appearing in five movies in total.

This, of course, isn’t the first time the actor has made an appearance with the royal family.

For the opening of the 2012 London Olympics, he appeared as James Bond in a skit alongside the Queen.

In the sketch, the monarch welcomed 007 to Buckingham Palace by saying “Good evening, Mr Bond”, before their characters jumped out of a helicopter and into Olympic stadium.

While appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert earlier this year, Craig recalled filming the skit with Her Majesty, describing her as “very funny”.

“(Her Majesty) wants to crack a joke, and crack a joke about me,” he said.

“We were having our photograph taken, and she just went, ‘Oh no, he’s the one that doesn’t smile’.'”
