Prince Harry has told his friends he “cannot believe” how his life has turned out after he moved to Los Angeles with his wife Meghan Markle to begin their transition into a financially independent life.

The Duke and Duchess moved to Los Angeles at the eleventh hour in March amid the COVID-19 pandemic, deciding to fly from their former base on Vancouver Island to Los Angeles just before flights were grounded.

Since settling into the new city, Harry has been seen a handful of times, both in public and via video calls back home, but it seems there’s a big thing missing for him.

In a new report from The Telegraph, sources have claimed the Prince cannot believe how his life has been “turned upside down”.

Speaking to respected royal writer Camilla Tominey, the source said the 35-year-old told his friends he also misses his life in the army.

“Harry has told friends he is really missing the Army as well his military appointments,” they revealed.

“He misses the camaraderie of being in the forces.”

That said, the source reiterated that the Prince did not blame anyone for the recent changes in his life, including Meghan.

“He was in a happy place when he was serving in the Army, then he met Meghan and since then life has been great. But I don’t think he foresaw things turning out quite as they did,” they told the publication.

Harry left the army back in 2015, but has continued his ties with it in the years since, launching various support initiatives for service men and women, including his famed Invictus Games.

The Prince had previously described his army years as some of his best, revelling in the fact that he was simply “one of the guys”, there, and didn’t get treated any differently just because he was a royal.

At the start of this year when he and Meghan famously announced they would be stepping back from their roles as senior royals, the Prince was stripped of a number of his military associations as a technicality.

The cutting of these ties was clearly unwanted by the Prince, who spoke about the situation in an unprecedented speech.

“Our hope was to continue serving the Queen, the Commonwealth and my military associations, but without public funding. Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible,” he told an audience at the Sandringham Summit.

Harry and Meghan are now settling into life in Los Angeles, with the pair announcing the new name of their foundation, Archewell, earlier this month.

As they continue to self-isolate, it’s likely they’ll be working hard on their next steps and coming up with new initiatives to move things along as they build their own, separate empire.
