Duchess Meghan’s A-list celebrity pals have rallied around her following the bombshell decision she and Prince Harry made, to “step back” as senior members of the royal family.

Royal fans are divided over the surprising news – some say Meghan and Harry are perfectly within their rights to break free and live independent, happy lives, while others are calling it a rash and selfish decision – but it’s clear that despite what the public thinks, the former Suits star’s high profile mates are 100 per cent supportive of Meghan’s bold move.

So exactly who has thrown their public support behind the Duke and Duchess of Sussex?

Keep on scrolling to see what three of Meghan’s celeb friends have had to say about her family’s recent announcement.

Jessica Mulroney

Jessica and Meghan first became friends during Meghan’s Suits days, when she would regularly film the show in Toronto.

Meghan’s best friend and unofficial maid of honour Jessica Mulroney, who lives in Canada with her husband Ben and their three children, took to Instagram on Thursday to share a message of support.

The stylist shared an inspirational quote from American filmmaker and singer Gina Carey that reads: “A strong woman looks a challenge in the eye and gives it a wink.”

Furthermore, she has disabled comments on the post.

While the duke and duchess are in London figuring out the specific details of their split from the royal family, Archie is remaining in Canada where the family-of-three spent their Christmas and New Year break and is reportedly being looked after by Jessica herself.

“Archie is being taken care of by Jess, as well as a nanny, but will be back in his parents’ arms very shortly,” reports Harper’s Bazaar US’ royal correspondent Omid Scobie.

According to a close friend of Meghan’s, the Duchess is about to make her return to Canada, closely followed by Prince Harry.

“They’re feeling confident,” the friend told Harper’s Bazaar.

“Harry and Meghan are aware that they’ll be criticised, perhaps even vilified, for taking control of their lives but creating a positive future for themselves and their family has always been their priority.”

This isn’t the first time Jessica has publicly jumped to Meghan’s defence. In August, she took to Instagram to defend her friend when she and Harry faced backlash after flying in private jets.

“Three years of undeserved hate and abuse. It’s enough,” Jessica wrote on Instagram at the time.

“When someone faces unfair criticism, you call it out. When that person is your friend and your family, you call those critics what they truly are. Shame on you, you racist bullies.”

Jameela Jamil

Actress and body positivity advocate Jameela Jamil is the star of The Good Place.

British actress Jameela Jamil, star of The Good Place and also of Meghan’s British Vogue ‘Forces For Change’ guest edition, took to Twitter to praise the Duchess of Sussex for her bold decision this week.

Retweeting an item from UK’s Sky News, she wrote: “And that folks, is what power looks like.”

She also retweeted a tweet that stated: “The British public is genuinely more angry at Prince Harry marrying a mixed race woman than they are at Prince Andrew literally shagging kids.”

Jameela once again came to Meghan’s defence after controversial UK media commentator Piers Morgan slammed Harry and Meghan’s decision in a seething Daily Mail column on Thursday.

When Morgan continued to criticise Meghan on Twitter, Jameela wrote: “All of this crying really because she ditched you … you’re a grown man. You’re acting like she’s broken up your family”.

She added: “Are you OK mate? Everything alright at home? You’re being very emotional about all of this,” she said.

Celebrity makeup artist Daniel Martin, who is a longtime friend of Meghan’s and even did her makeup on her wedding day back in 2018, publicly threw his support behind his close pal on Thursday.
