Prince Harry is definitely a long way from home.

The red-headed royal touched down in Africa on Monday for a whirlwind two-day visit to Zambia, while his pregnant wife Duchess Meghan rests at home.

Awaiting the 34-year-old at Lusaka Airport was nine-year-old Jane, who presented Harry with a bunch of flowers as a traditional welcome ceremony began.

News that Duchess Meghan was staying at home instead of accompanying her husband to Africa spread quickly over the weekend.

Some were surprised because the place holds a special meaning to the newlyweds – it is widely believed the pair fell in love while on a trip to Botswana.

However concerns over the Zika virus is believed to be the reason for Meghan opting out of the visit, as reported by The Sun.

An insider told the publication: “As far as those on the ground in Zambia were concerned both Meghan and Harry were going. But Meghan is exhausted and, understandably, expressed serious concerns about travelling to a country with even the smallest Zika threat.”

“In the end it was agreed Harry would go it alone and Meghan could rest-up and spend some quality time with Doria, who is down in the UK visiting.”

The news comes after an announcement from Kensington Palace stating that the couple will be moving to a new home – Frogmore Cottage, a 10-bedroom home in Windsor.

Kensington Palace’s official statement referenced the couple’s first child as a reason for their move.

We can’t really blame them – the new home boasts no less than 10-bedrooms, a new nursery and space for a gym and yoga studio, which is well suited to Meghan who is a known yoga enthusiast.

Whats more, her mum, Doria, has worked as a yoga instructor, and it is believed there is potential for her to move in to help with the growing family.

A source told The Sunday Mirror that Doria would be staying with the couple for “quite long periods”.

“Frogmore Cottage isn’t massive but it’s certainly big enough for Doria to have a separate area there.”

The royal couple’s new cottage will require some renovations before the pair can officially call it their new home, and in the meantime, Harry will complete his tour of Africa alone.

His visit includes an engagement at the military barracks and an event of The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, of which Harry is president of.

He will also visit Circus Zambia and BongoHive, both of which are working to help grow workers in their chosen career fields.
