According to the Daily Mail, the Duchess of Sussex attended a talk hosted by Obama to discuss her new autobiography, Becoming.

Following the discussion in front of a 2,700-strong audience, Meghan met Michelle backstage where they discussed a range of topics including pregnancy, family and female education – something both woman are particularly vocal about.

Earlier this week, Obama shared some wise advice with fast-paced Meghan in a candid interview with Good Housekeeping.

“Like me, Meghan probably never dreamt that she’d have a life like this, and the pressure you feel – from yourself and from others – can sometimes feel like a lot,” she said.

She said to combat this, the Duchess should try to slow down a little and not shy away from playing a longer game.

“So my biggest pieces of advice would be to take some time and don’t be in a hurry to do anything. I spent the first few months in the White House mainly worrying about my daughters, making sure they were off to a good start at school and making new friends, before I launched into any more ambitious work.”

While it’s unclear as to whether the pair have met previously, it is known that Meghan’s husband Prince Harry is well-acquainted with the former First-Lady and her husband, Barack Obama – he interviewed the pair last year as a guest on BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme.

The Obama’s are also known to get along well with Prince William and Duchess Catherine, as well as the Queen and Prince Phillip.

But it does seem like Meghan has more in common with Michelle than any other royal, particularly following her rousing speeches delivered during her recent tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga.

While in New Zealand, the Duchess shared some stirring words speaking to the audience at Government House in Wellington.

Meghan said she was proud to celebrate New Zealand, especially given it was the first self-governing country in the world to give women the right to vote in parliamentary elections.

“Women’s suffrage is not simply about the right to vote for women but also about what that represents,” she said.

“The basic and fundamental human right of all people – including members of society who have been marginalised – whether for reasons of race, gender, ethnicity or orientation – to be able to participate in the choices for their future and their community.”

And while in Fiji, Meghan spoke candidly about her own experiences in receiving an education.

“I am also fully aware of the challenges of being able to afford this level of schooling for many people around the world – myself included. It was through scholarships, financial aid programmes and work-study where my earnings from a job on campus went directly towards my tuition – that I was able to attend university,” she said in her speech.

Meanwhile, Michelle Obama has been rather candid about her experiences with the royals by sharing some surprising anecdotes.

Obama revealed her moment with the Queen in which Her Majesty admitted royal protocol is “rubbish”.

It all played out when the former US First Lady was attending a presidential visit with husband Barack, the Queen, and Prince Philip. Understandably, Michelle admitted, she was a complete bag of nerves.

“I had all this protocol buzzing in my head and I was like ‘don’t trip down the stairs and don’t touch anybody, whatever you do,” Michelle said.

But the Queen was quick to calm down the 54-year-old.

“And so the Queen says ‘just get in, sit wherever’ and she’s telling you one thing and you’re remembering protocol and she says ‘Oh it’s all rubbish, just get in’.”

We can’t get enough of these strong females making their voices heard!
