On the second day of her first solo international trip, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge was welcomed to Denmark’s palace by Queen Margrethe and Crown Princess Mary.

All eyes were on the Duchess, who looked spectacular in her well-tailored wool coat dress with black lapels and cuffs, styled with black pumps.

However, royal fans noticed that her ensemble was a subtle nod to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

Diana wore a grey coat dress with the hint of black on her collar during a 1984 visit to Barnados Children’s Charity, of which she was patron.

While they’re not a perfect match as Kate’s piece is dubbed the ‘Marine’ while Diana’s is a ‘Herringbone,’ the royal women appear uncannily similar side-by-side.

The Duchess has been in Copenhagen to learn from academics and health professionals about Denmark’s work in early years development that provides excellent programs for children.

After meeting with Crown Princess Mary, they visited the Danner Crisis Centre, which helps support women and children exposed to domestic violence, which is supported by The Mary Foundation, which Mary founded in 2007.

The two queens-to-be shared a warm exchange royal watchers were pleased to witness their familiar bond 11 years after Kate first met Mary in Copenhagen.

The day prior she met with parents at Copenhagen’s Children’s Museum and the mother of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis played with the babes and children at a Forest Kindergarten, which approaches early learning with an emphasis on social and emotional development rather than academic.

During the outing she admitted to feeling “very broody” around babies and toddlers, but sadly she admitted Prince William isn’t so keen.

“William always worries about me meeting under one-year-olds. I come home saying, ‘Let’s have another one,'” she shared.
