Five weeks after undergoing hip replacement surgery, Lisa Curry has revealed that complications from the procedure led her to spend a “couple of nights” in intensive care.
“So … about the crutches!” the former Olympian captioned a recent Instagram post of herself using the sticks.
“4 weeks ago I had a hip replacement. Spent a couple of nights in ICU with low blood pressure. Lost my appetite, lost my taste for coffee even!”
The 61-year-old explained how a literal pile-up while husky dog sledding in Yukon, Canada, in January led to hip pain that was eventually revealed to be several fractured bones.
Lisa was on painkillers for her recent 10-week trip around Europe and the US before she had her operation.

“It’s been sore all year… until I could barely walk,” the brave star admitted.
But the swimming champ reassured followers that she is now feeling much better, is able to exercise and swim again and is “learning how to walk without a limp”.
While Lisa added that she had “lived on painkillers” for the rest of her 10-week long holiday around Europe and the US, which she enjoyed alongside her husband of five years Mark Tabone, she didn’t divulge more about her spell in the ICU, where patients who have life-threatening conditions receive around-the-clock monitoring.

(Credit: Instagram)Lisa also shared pictures of herself in the hospital after the operation, seemingly attached to oxygen and a monitor and admitted that “you don’t realise how many things you take for granted” until going through the debilitating time.
Lisa, who marked the third anniversary of her daughter Jaimi’s death in September, praised her family for looking after her.
“Thanks to my hubby for putting up with me, cooking, cleaning and picking up after me for the last couple of weeks and also to [daughter] Morgan who drove me around so I could still work!” she wrote.
