A wedding day marks a special occasion of two people in love coming together, but radio personality Erin Molan has taken matters into her own hands and has married herself!

Wearing a stunning white dress and a location perfect for a ‘wedding ceremony’, Erin was walked down the aisle by her four-year-old daughter, Eliza.

“We came up with this concept late last year because so many of our listeners were single mums/unmarried/unlucky in love/unhappy in their relationships and we just thought WHY wait until you’ve met the one… just marry yourself,” she said in a post shared to Instagram.

The radio stunt was apart of her 2DAY FM breakfast program Hughesy, Ed and Erin where she was joined by a number of single women who also decided to ‘marry’ themselves.

However, the young mum nearly pulled out of the program after losing her father Jim Molan in early 2023 and realising he would walk her down the aisle.

“I’m going to be completely honest… I didn’t want to do this… at all,” Erin said.

“One of the million things that broke my heart about that was the realisation that he’d never be able to walk me down the aisle,” she said.

“I’ve never dreamt of a wedding and it’s never been really that important to me… but the thought of even doing it for a radio segment, without him, made me feel sick… and I nearly pulled out so many times.”

But seeing the joy on her daughter’s face changed Erin’s mind about the ‘ceremony’.

“It was actually my 4 year old who got me over the line. I told her about it and she was more excited than I’ve ever seen her… and that helped me immensely,” Erin said.

“I guess I had never envisaged that I’d be a 39 year old single mum and not married at this stage of my life.”

Despite her reluctance, she “had a ball” and thanked her radio family and listeners who “inspire” her “every single morning.”
