There’s never been any shortage of drama in her life, but the wild claims that Cher paid a group of men to kidnap her adult son Elijah Blue Allman have taken the cake!

Reports that Cher arranged to have her son “kidnapped” surfaced last week as part of ongoing divorce proceedings between Elijah and his wife Marie King.

According to court documents, the incident happened on November 30, 2022 – their anniversary.

Elijah, 47, and Marie, 36, had been staying at a New York hotel in the hopes of working on their marriage when the men removed him from their room, with one allegedly telling Marie they’d had been hired by her mother-in-law.

As more details came to light about Elijah’s long-running addiction issues, it appears that his Grammy-winning mother orchestrated the plot as a means of intervention.

Marie has since said in the civil court documents that Cher asked her to leave her and Elijah’s home without retrieving her belongings in August 2022, before he went into treatment.

After Elijah was apparently removed from the New York hotel, Marie says he was ”in lockdown at a treatment facility undisclosed to me”. Elijah is believed to be in rehab in California.

While Cher, 77, hasn’t yet commented on the saga and has no allegations to answer, her fractured relationship with Elijah has been known over the years.

At times, the mother and son have been estranged, with Elijah saying in 2016, ”It’s a very complex situation that historically has never made for a good parent [fame]. I don’t think it’s anything she doesn’t know or hasn’t acknowledged.”

In a further sting to Cher’s absent parenting, Elijah’s comments about how he had to lean on her ex-boyfriends for support have come to light.

”I was very lucky to have a lot of those men who were my mum’s boyfriends – from [Val] Kilmer to Tom Cruise,” he said in 2014.

”I was lucky to have them in my life because my dad wasn’t around, so I really kind of looked to them.”

Elijah isn’t the only one who has issues with Cher, with reports suggesting her other son, Chaz Bono, doesn’t approve of her on-off beau, Alexander “AE” Edwards, 37.

The couple sparked reunion rumours when they cosied up at Paris Fashion Week, months after sources said that Chaz believed he was after his mother’s $560 million fortune.
