She’s about to become a mum for the third time, but before her little one arrives, Em Rusciano is saying goodbye to her breakfast radio gig at 2Day FM.

The 39 year-old, who is one third of the 2Day FM Breakfast with Em, Grant and Ed, revealed in a personal statement that she’s stepping away from the mic to focus on her family and that her last show will be on Friday morning (7th September).

“Before anyone gets into a flap, let me make it crystal clear that this is entirely my decision and not one I made lightly. I appreciate how lucky I am to be in a position to leave on my own terms. Usually in radio, you are not afforded such a luxury,” her statement read.

The soon-to-be mum of three confessed that she knew this would be her last year working in radio when she found out she was expecting.

“I had intended to work through until December, but as my pregnancy is progressing I’m finding it increasingly harder to fulfil the requirements of my job,” she confessed.

And with her trademark humour, Em said that once her decision was finalised, it was relief that took over.

“Relief that I will no longer have to get up at 4am. Relief that I will no longer have to come up with my share of three hours worth of content every single day. Relief that my kids won’t just remember me as being tired and grumpy when they grow up.”

Em is taking some downtime with her family before baby number three arrives.

Em and her partner Scott Barrow already have two children together, Marchella, 16, and Odette, 11 and in May last ear, In May last year, she revealed the heartbreaking news that she had suffered a miscarriage and would be taking time away from her work to recover.

“I’d only just seen my baby the week before on the ultrasound, kicking and waving. I’d heard his heart beat and began to imagine what type of person he’d become. What colour hair he’d have, I wondered if he’d be serious like his dad or ridiculous like his mother, or perhaps a little bit of both.

“But now, all I have is that one grainy black and white image, and the rest I will have to imagine. I’m not sure I’m built to withstand this kind of heartbreak, I’m not sure any mother is.”
