“It’s not true at all, we’re just friends,” 27-year-old Sofia tells Woman’s Day, who first met Karl, 42, around eight weeks ago when she starred on a segment on the Today Show alongside celebrity chef Luke Mangan, who she works for as a culinary experience officer.
Sofia says contrary to reports, Karl has never made a pass at her or done anything to lead her to believe he has romantic feelings for her.
“We’re just mates and have stayed in contact since that shoot,” tells the Melbourne-based foodie, who is in the midst of planning her own wedding to her fiancé Matt John.
In fact, Sofia’s fiancé Matt finds the whole scenario laughable, too!
“We’re all friends, I’ve hung out with Karl and Sofia together,” tells Matt, who runs Sydney eatery Epic pizza. Matt even got King Karl to pose with a slice to help boost business joking that it was “love at first slice” with the news presenter.
Sofia is the latest in a long line of women who have been linked to the Logie winning presenter, including Samantha Armytage and Delta Goodrem.
Karl is said to have blindsided his former wife of 21 years when he walked out on their marriage in July.
Sofia has vehmently denied the reports and is in fact planning her wedding to fiancé Matt John.
Karl and Cass called time on their marriage earlier in the year.
Now, Karl and Cass are now embroiled in a bitter battle as they work out what will happen to their shared $20 million fortune with sources saying that Cass has felt abandoned by the Today ‘family’ and Karl’s relatives, who she hasn’t heard from since their split.
“Cass is really hurt by this as she believed they were her real friends, but maybe some of them are embarrassed because they knew Karl’s plans before she did,” our source reveals.
“It makes Cass wonder how much they knew.”
Sofia and Karl first met about two months ago when they filmed a segment for The Today Show.
