Breast cancer survivor Rita Wilson has been a beacon of hope for many battling cancer, and now she has a powerful message to share to those battling the disease.

“I just want to say that my thoughts are with you, and I know that it… it’s a truck that hits you, but I’m telling you, you’ll get through it,” the 58-year-old said to Entertainment Tonight at the Tony Awards in New York on Sunday.

She added: “It’s a day at a time, and I pray for you, and I know – I’ve been there. It will be good.”

It’s been nearly two months since Rita announced her diagnosis and subsequently underwent a double mastectomy.

Rita spotted with her hubby, Tom on May 18th looking healthy and happy.

“Last week, with my husband by my side, and with the love and support of family and friends, I underwent a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction for breast cancer after a diagnosis of invasive lobular carcinoma,” Rita said in her statement at the time.

“I am recovering and most importantly, expected to make a full recovery. Why? Because I caught this early, have excellent doctors and because I got a second opinion.”

And just last month her stepson Colin reveals the incredible news she is officially cancer free.

This is the first time we’ve seen Rita Wilson on the red carpet since her illness and the star looked healthy and happy.

The beloved wife of Tom Hanks took her stepson, Colin as her date to the coveted Broadway Award show and the pair had a blast.

The 37-year-old actor tweeted a snap with Rita alongside the caption: “I got to go to the Tonys as this lady’s date. Much fun was had.”

Rita is not letting anything slow her down and has already returned to the stage for her role in the Broadway play, Fish in the Dark and Colin was proud to announce that she “is absolutely slaying them every night!”

Good on you Rita, what an inspiration!
