It’s fairly obvious to everyone, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are in love. Of course their royal wedding is evidence of this statement, as is the way they look at each other and their public displays of affection.

Even before their marriage, the couple were rarely seen together without holding hands. But last week the couple deviated from their usual love-up displays while they joined the Queen during an appearance at the Young Leaders Reception at Buckingham Place.

Instead of holding hands, Harry kept his arms by his side, while Meghan clutched her purse, and it was all because they were in the presence of Her Majesty.

Harry and Meghan have always shown their affection in public.

They love to hold hands.

They’re so loved-up!

But in front of Harry’s grand mother…They keep their hands to themselves.

Harry and Meghan’s public affection is unusual for royal behaviour. Despite their 70 years of marriage, the Queen and Prince Philip never show affection in public.

According to royal biographer Gyles Brandreth, Queen Elizabeth and her husband never hold hands in public because of the “stoic values” of their generation, he told PEOPLE.

During a recent engagement with the Queen, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex kept at a distance.

Hands off!

Woman’s Day previously reported the Queen gave a telling off to Harry and Meghan for their constant PDA.

Sources told the publication the Queen warned Harry to tone down the public displays of affection with Meghan and start acting more prim and proper like the other royals – for instance, Prince William and his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge.

Kate and William rarely show affection in public.

It appears at their most recent outing, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex followed the Queen’s wishes as not even a graze of the hand was noted.
