Orange Is The New Black: Where we left off…

Before Orange Is The New Black returns in a marathon of episodes, we review where it ended for the inmates of Litchfield.

The highly anticipated fifth season of Orange Is The New Black hits Netflix today!

If you didn’t have time to re-watch all four previous seasons, we’ve put together a handy gallery of what you need to know ahead of tonight’s season five premiere.

We hope you’ve cancelled all weekend plans… we can feel a binge-watch marathon coming on.

Daya (Dascha Polanco): In season four’s jaw-dropping cliffhanger, Daya snatches the gun from abusive correctional officer Humphrey (Michael Torpey) and aims it at his head. The inmates cheer her on – after all, he forced one of their own to eat a live baby mouse – so the stakes are high. On our mind: Will Daya pull the trigger?

Crazy Eyes (Uzo Aduba); Last time we saw Suzanne, she was being wheeled into the hospital ward. From beating up her ex to inciting the protest-turned-fight that killed Poussey, Crazy Eyes is not in a good way physically – or mentally. On our mind: Will she be transferred to a psych ward?

Soso (Kimiko Glenn): Life in prison is never easy, but Soso found love in her relationship with fan favourite Poussey (Samira Wiley). But after Poussey’s tragic death, Soso is left isolated and suffocated by bone-aching grief. On our mind: Will anyone support Soso?

Taystee (Danielle Brooks): Gone is the bubbly glass-half-full Tastee. Not only has she lost best friend Poussey, but she’s done feeling powerless against the guards. A key player in the riot, Taystee has gone to war… On our mind: How far will Taystee go to avenge Poussey’s death?

Bayley (Alan Aisenberg): We know the sweet-natured guard didn’t intend to harm Poussey… but the inmates aren’t having it, especially after Caputo publically defended him. We left Bayley a broken young man numbed by tragedy, and his journey won’t get any easier. On our mind: Will Bayley dare return to Litchfield?

Caputo (Nick Sandow): There’s a prisoner death, an inmate with a gun and a violent riot. Oh, and did we mention there may be more inmates headed for Caputo’s already-overpopulated prison? On our mind: How does he resolve, well, everything? Can’t wait to find out…

Judy King (Blair Brown):

She’s moments away from being released from prison, but on the way out the celebrity chef gets stuck in the middle of the riot with nowhere to run. On our mind: Will Judy make it out of Litchfield?

Healy (Michael Harney): Like most at Litchfield, Healty has his demons. Season four took a dark, heartbreaking turn when he attempts to commit suicide in the nearby lake then subsequently checks himself into a psych hospital. On our mind: What’s next for Healy?

Piper and Alex (Laura Prepon and Taylor Schilling): This pair’s on-off drama wasn’t a major focus for season four, but life has still found a way for them to circle back to each other. Yes, again. On our mind: Who’ll sabotage the relationship first?
