The first three episodes – volume one – of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s docuseries Harry & Meghan have just hit Netflix.
And the beginning of episode one reveals who out of the princes – Harry and William – Meghan preferred before she met either.
This moment comes when the producer tells the Duke and Duchess of Sussex that she wants to show them a video clip.
Placing a laptop in front of the couple, they are shown a clip of an interview that Meghan has done with Hello! Canada.
“Do you remember this?” asks Harry, with Meghan responding with a no.
It was October 2015, eight months before Prince Harry and then-actress Meghan Markle met for the first time.
Sitting down with a female journalist, Meghan is asked quick-fire questions such as, “number one song to pick you up?”.
But then she is asked: “Prince William or Prince Harry?”, and we weren’t accepting the answer we got from the now Duchess of Sussex.
She pauses for a moment, shrugs and says “I don’t know” with laughter. Meghan then follows it with the answer we all want to hear, “Harry”.
But as you watch her response it seems convincing that Meghan Markle really didn’t have much interest in the British Royal Family prior to being introduced to charming Harry through friends.
Many articles and “insider” claims over the years have painted Meghan as a ‘royal-chaser’, but this theory was further dispelled in episode one of the docuseries when text messages between Meghan and the friend that introduced them were shown on screen.
When the friend suggested setting her up with someone she asked “who”, with the friend responding “Prince Haz”, to which she said “who’s Prince Haz???”.
The first part of the Netflix docuseries gave us quite the intimate insight into how their relationship begun – from stalking each other on Instagram to being late to the first dates, we loved learning more about the beginning blooms of this love story!
