Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry surprised fans over the weekend with a stunning new portrait – their first since they formally stepped back from their senior royal positions back in March 2020.
The pair were photographed for TIME magazine as they host a special edition of TIME 100 Talks – a role vastly suited to the twosome who are vocal in encouraging conversations and positive action for the greater good.
And while the image itself is poignant and pure, there was something else about it that we couldn’t help but compare it to.
In the beautiful black and white portrait, Meghan is seen sitting on a chair with her husband Harry leaning on an arm rest.
Meghan wears a stunning black suit with her hair in long loose waves as she smiles shyly towards the ground, while Harry gazes happily into the camera.
The image is incredibly striking – and its rarity makes it all the more interesting.
And what’s more, as pointed out by Instagram fan account Harry_Meghan_update, there’s a striking similarity between this image, and one taken two and a half years ago in the moments after the Duke and Duchess were married in May 2018
Indeed, taken by renowned photographer Alexi Lubomirski, an image from the aftermath of their wedding at St George’s Chapel shows the Duke and Duchess looking blissful in that post-nuptial moment in another stunning black and white shot.
Interesting to see the pair two years later, and more in love than ever.
The pair’s new portrait comes in line with a discussion hosted by Harry and Meghan via TIME 100 Talks, where they will chat about ‘Engineering a Better World’ with experts, online creators, advocates and journalists to discuss how to create a compassionate, safe and trustworthy digital world.
“This special episode marks our first collaboration, and we are thrilled to partner with The Duke and Duchess of Sussex to explore these urgent issues,” TIME editor in chief Edward Felsenthal said in a statement.
Meghan and Harry will curate an important discussion about the digital world.
