As The Block contestants reach nearer to auction day, tensions are running high between teams – even amongst friends.
So far, Tom and Sarah-Jane have been the ones to watch on the renovation show, being top of the leader-board with each passing room reveal.
But on Wednesday’s night episode, disaster struck for the couple when they realised there was no set of stairs on the master suite side of their veranda.
Lazer-focused on fixing the oversight, Sarah-Jane approached her friends Rachel and Ryan asking for some spare timber. But when the couple fibbed that the materials would cost them $1,000, it was no deal.

“So they went and bought some timber but they were trying to take our leftover timber?” Ryan said.
“You’ve clearly got money if you’ve got that many trades on.”
Now, Sarah-Jane has shared a shock bombshell about timber-gate.

“Stairs here where an absolute necessity in my eyes and nothing Tom was going to tell me would change my mind……typical 😂,” she penned, before revealing the bombshell.
“On a side note I was totally willing to pay 1k for timber I wanted those stairs…..Tom on the other hand, tell her she’s dreaming 😝.”
During the episode, when Sarah-Jane realised the stair mishap, she said to her partner: “Tom, that makes no sense for people to walk through their home using the deck.” But the latter contestant was blasé about the oversight.

Determined as ever, Sarah-Jane convinced their landscaper Troy to build some stairs. He agreed on the condition that she procured the materials.
In a panic, the reality star approached Rachel for spare timber.
While she and Ryan had spare timber worth $500, Rachel wanted something in return for the materials. The contestant fibbed to Sarah, telling her it was worth $1,000.
Claiming she had no money, Sarah left the timber with Rachel. Later, she solved the issue without the help of her friend when a tradie happened to find some merbau timber.
“Capping off the night with a night cap with my bestie. What could be better 💃🏼💃🏼.”
“When you have 17 landscapers you can kind of pull one aside and say, ‘Hey dude can you build some stairs?'” Sarah-Jane said.
Despite the on-screen tensions, the teams seem to hold no grudges.
Rachel even took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes photo with Sarah-Jane, featuring the two women beaming while sipping some drinks.
“Capping off the night with a night cap with my bestie. What could be better 💃🏼💃🏼 #TheBlock,” she captioned the post.
