They’re The Block‘s resident jokers, and friends with all their neighbours, but are Omar and Oz as easy-going as they seem?

When no-nonsense foreman Keith spots tradies in their house with power tools at 5am, he’s quick to point out they’re not playing by the rules.

Taking a closer look at how Oz and Omar have been running their build, he notices how many tradies they’ve gone through and wonders if they’re pushing the rules – and their workers – too far.

“Why is this happening, guys?” he asks after pointing out they’ve set a The Block record for the number of tradies who arrive and then disappear, either sacked or quitting as soon as they can.

Oz says the answer is simple: if someone’s not up to the job, they’re gone.

“A lot of people were overwhelmed with the workload of The Block and how demanding it is,” the 31-year-old tells TV WEEK.

“And as you know, on The Block, budget is everything. So, to be honest, sometimes the money wasn’t good enough for them.”

But the more Keith looks, the more corner-cutting he finds, until finally he threatens to kick Oz and Omar’s entire team of workers off site.

“I’m sick of the dodginess,” he says. “We’re constantly catching them doing the wrong thing and it’s got to stop.”

It all comes to a head when The Block all-star Ronnie visits the site and urges the other contestants to take a close look at how Omar and Oz are able to afford so many workers.

They think he’s just stirring, but it does get them thinking, and that’s a good thing, Ronnie, 46, tells TV WEEK.

“If everyone has issues, maybe they should do something about it!” he says. “Don’t wait until it’s done and dusted, they’ve won The Block and you think, ‘Well, I should have said something!'”

So, with Keith watching closely and their rivals starting to grumble, are Omar and Oz about to get caught breaking one rule too many?
