Former Biggest Loser trainer Steve “Commando” Willis is swapping the gym for the Fijian jungle, with insiders telling Woman’s Day he’s just one of several celebrities who have signed up to compete on this year’s Australian Survivor: Champions Vs Contenders.

Want more celeb gossip? Listen to the latest episode of the Woman’s Day Uncensored podcast, where the team chat about phony MAFS star Tracey Jewel, the sad decline of Heather Locklear and who will replace Tracy Grimshaw on A Current Affair.

And the musclebound ex-soldier is proving to be a force to be reckoned with, reveals our source.

“He is a serious asset in physical challenges. Some of his competition are said to be quite intimidated!”

During his time on The Biggest Loser, Steve believed in hard work and no excuses. And with his dark sunglasses and booming military voice, he scared the contestants and some of us at home so we’re in for a great season of Survivor this year.

The tropics suit him: The Commando with his then-pregnant partner, Michelle Bridges.

And while he may look tough, he is a doting dad to his four kids, Brianna, 19, Ella, 10, Jack, 6 and Axel, 2, the youngest of whom he shares with his partner Michelle Bridges, whom he met while filming The Biggest Loser.

Speaking to The Sydney Morning Hearald in 2016, the Commando said, “For a long time, making season after season of The Biggest Loser, we were just friends. It was more of a communication connection that drew us together in that sense rather than anything physical.”

“The thing about Michelle that got my attention was her willingness to listen and you could sit for minutes, hours and just talk and she would be like a sounding board.”
