From Gogglebox to groom! Symon Lovett and Gabriella Russo are married

Much like his TV show, Gogglebox Australia, Symon Lovett’s wedding to his partner of seven years, Gabriella Russo, “was all about the laughs”.

“We just wanted it to be one big party,” the 35-year-old exclusively tells Woman’s Day. “People were asking us if we cried, but it was almost too funny to cry. It was perfect.”

The reality star wed Gabriella in front of 150 family and friends earlier this month at Melbourne’s Fitzroy Gardens, before the festivities continued on to hotspot The Trust in a day that was all about mixing traditional with contemporary.

While the wedding party donned traditional garb, it was important for Gabriella to be walked down the aisle by both her mum and dad, “because they both raised me to be the woman I am”, she says.

FAVOURITE MOMENT

Instead of the standard wedding pictures, the pair traipsed the streets of Melbourne’s bustling CBD for their portraits, and even sat outside a pizzeria for a moment that Gabriella called her “favourite part of the day”.

“I think ‘contrast’ was the theme of the day,” Symon laughs. “It was sort of this calamitous event. Like we like to dress up all fancy, but we’re not those people.”

“We’re hot messes, really,” Gabriella adds.

In a move that may shock Gogglebox fans, Symon’s best friend on the couch Adam Densten, 32, didn’t serve as his best man on the day, with the star choosing his best friend Steve, who he’s known since he was four, instead.

“Adam was close – he was about 20 years off making the role,” Symon jokes. “But it was great having him there, because he’s only just got married as well [Adam wed his sweetheart Rachel Falconer in April 2019] so he was like a guiding light through the whole thing.

“He was just so calming and super in tune with all of my feelings,” he adds.

“Having someone with that knowledge and close to you stand with you on a day like that is just the best.”

HONEYMOON & BEYOND

Now Symon and Gabriella have had some time to recover from the big day, they’re in the final stages of planning their honeymoon! They’ll be venturing to Greece, Italy and Morocco in May, before turning their efforts to perhaps starting a family of their own.

“It’s definitely on the cards,” Symon says, with Gabriella adding excitedly that she knows “Symon is going to make a fabulous dad. He’s a fun uncle, so he’s going to be fun and really loving. I’m very much looking forward to it!”
