They won a legion of fans during their time on Love Island Australia but, as it turns out, they didn’t win each other’s hearts. Cartier Surjan and Matthew Zukowski have confirmed their split just one day after walking the red carpet together at the ARIAs.
The duo attended the Sydney awards show on Wednesday night, alongside the season’s winners Anna McEvoy and Josh Packham. On Thursday evening they confirmed they are no longer together, just a few weeks after filming the show’s finale in Fiji.
Cartier shared a selfie from the event on her Instagram, revealing they decided to split in her caption.
“I’ve made the decision that Matthew and I are better off staying good friends rather than in a relationship,” Cartier writes.
“He’s a beautiful guy no doubt about it! Hope you all can respect my decision and support both of us in finding true love.”

Matthew shared a near-identical post on his own Instagram account, confirming it was Cartier who called time on their budding relationship.
“Moving forward I would just like to let you all know that Cartier has decided that the two of us are better off suited as friends, I respect Cartier & her decision,” he writes in the caption.
“She is truely [sic] a beautiful girl & I wish the best for her in the future! Hope you can all support us finding true love.”
Matthew shared a very similar selfie from the ARIAs.
Eagle-eyed fans first suspected the pair had split when Cartier unveiled her blonde hair transformation earlier this week.
After all, new hair new you, right? Plus, fans were quick to notice Matt didn’t comment on her post.
“Matt?????” one follower frantically questioned while another asked “Matt well are you gonna hype her up or?”
Looks like they were right to be suspicious of Cartier’s new look, with the star confirming she’s now on a new, single, journey.
