Jett Kenny was eliminated from Dancing With The Stars overnight, losing out in the semi-final to Courtney Act, Constance Hall and Samuel Johnson.

Despite scoring an 8 out of 10 from notoriously tough judge Craig Revel Horwood, Jett and his dance partner, Lily Cornish, didn’t receive enough votes from the public to remain in the dance competition.

“When you go up against personalities like Constance, Sam and Courtney, it’s hard to compete with that when you’re just a nipper and lifeguard,” Jett tells TV WEEK.

“But it’s incredible how far I got, and the support Lily and I had throughout this has been amazing.”

Jett admits he was disappointed to be eliminated, especially because Lily relocated to The Sunshine Coast so they could rehearse each week.

“I think we’re both pretty proud, but also both disappointed, to miss out by one week,” he says.

“Look, we got the chocolate medal which is not what you want, we came so close and just missed out on the grand finale.”

Jett says he was ‘lucky’ to have the support of his parents Lisa Curry and Grant Kenny, throughout the series.

“They’ve been incredible,” Jett says. “Dad’s been in Europe, working, and he was going to try and fly back but I was like ‘look I’ll just send you the video, mum’s going to be there and she can text you updates’.

“But yeah, they were very committed to coming and I’m pretty lucky to have had them there every week.”

Jett also says he’s lucky to have shared an instant connection with his dance partner, Lily.

The pair have been subject to much attention over the past two months, so what do they think of all the rumours and so-called ‘confirmed reports’ they are a couple?

“Yeah, it’s pretty funny to have the ‘confirmed couple’ pieces,” says Jett. “It’s funny and we sort of don’t really notice it.

“We hang out, and dance all the time together, and you become such good friends. We’re so close to one another that it just seems normal and, like I’ve said before, she was kind of like my dance girlfriend and we knew that our dance relationship was going to come to an end.”

Romance rumours aside, Jett and Lily are set to be friends for years to come.

“It’s a bit hard when we live in different states, she’s going back to Europe to work at the end of the year but, fingers crossed our paths cross again. But I definitely think we’ll stay connected.”
